Dairy Free Sausage Bites Recipe
Method
  1. 1. Cook the sausages under a hot grill or in a frying pan for around 10 minutes, until they start to brown.
  2. 2. Leave to cool. The sausages need to be cold before continuing with this recipe, otherwise the pastry will begin to melt and become unworkable.
  3. 3. Roll out the pastry and place one of the cold sausages along one edge.
  4. 4. Roll the sausage up in the pastry, covering the whole sausage.
  5. 5. Cut the pastry with a sharp knife, leaving 1/2cm flap of pastry free along the length of the covered sausage.
  6. 6. Brush the flap of pastry with the beaten egg and wrap around the sausage.
  7. 7. With a very sharp knife trim the pastry from each end of the sausage and then cut the pastry covered sausage into 5 or 6 small pieces or 'bites'.
  8. 8. Repeat steps 3 to 7 until all the sausages have been covered and cut.
  9. 9. Place the small sausage bites onto a baking tray, pre-prepared with greaseproof paper.
  10. 10. Brush each bite with the beaten egg.
